Badgers picked 12th by writers
The Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) released its preseason poll on Thursday and picked the Badgers as the No. 12 team in the country.
On Wednesday, the Badgers announced Allan Evridge, a 6-foot-2, 212-pound senior, will be the starting quarterback.
USC was ranked No. 1, followed by Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Florida. Illinois (15) was the only other Big Ten team to crack the poll.
The Badgers are ranked No. 12 in the USA Today poll and No. 13 in the Associated Press poll, both of which were released earlier this month.
Wisconsin opens its season Saturday, Aug. 30 at Camp Randall Stadium against Akron.
Game time is 11 a.m. with the Big Ten Network and the Badger Radio Network carrying the game live.
