Commitment of Budmayr a 'big statement'
Times ran a story on the commitment of quarterback Jon Budmayr to Wisconsin.
Heavily quoted in the article is recruiting analyst Tom Lemming, who says Budmayr is "a huge catch for Wisconsin. He is the best pickup for Wisconsin out of Chicago in 10 years. He's got great skills and he's their type of player. It's a big statement that Wisconsin has made in Chicago. They possibly landed a four-year starter."
Lemming goes on to say that Budmayr is a game-changer and just might turn out to the best quarterback from Chicago's recruiting class this year - in what is a very good class.
McHenry County Sports.com (a suburb of Chicago) also looks at Budmayr and notes that one of his high school assistant coaches is former UW quarterback Dirk Stanger.
Also, according to Marian coach Ed Brucker, Budmayr's family are big Notre Dame fans. The Irish not only were recruiting him, but also Budmayr was the QB Charlie Weis had on his radar.
