The excitement is building.
Fresno State's football team is hard at work getting ready for the season opening game against Rutgers. Bulldog fans in the Valley have already circled the calendar for the home opener Sept. 13 against the 12th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers. Wisconsin will be the first Big Ten team to play in Bulldog Stadium.
The Bulldogs open the season ranked No. 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
Single game tickets for that game, and the other four home games on the 2008 Bulldog schedule, will be available for sale beginning Saturday, August 9, at 12:01 a.m. on gobulldogs.com.
Phone orders and walk-up sales at the Bulldog Ticket Office, located at the South Entrance of Bulldog Stadium off of Bulldog Lane, begin Monday, August 11, at 9 a.m.
Until now, only season tickets and mini-plan packages were available for sale. Those plans remain available for sale.
Fresno State's public season ticket sales have surpassed last season's total, and according to Russell Hayden, Fresno State's Director of Ticket Operations, approximately 7,000 tickets are available for the general public for Wisconsin game.
Tickets are available for $60 each. There are a limited number of premium seats available for $80 each.
Fresno State student season tickets, approximately 4,000, are also available for sale at $60 per season ticket.
The Badgers will likely be the highest-ranked team to enter Bulldog Stadium to play the Dogs since No. 10 Oregon State in 2001. That year, the Beavers were ranked No. 1 in the nation by Sports Illustrated in its preseason college football issue. Fresno State won the game 44-24 in front of a then-record crowd of 42,410 considered one of the most exciting and memorable games in school history.
The Bulldogs will hold their Football Kickoff Night scrimmage Sunday, August 10, at 7 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium. This will be the only scrimmage open to the public during training camp.
According to Hayden, season tickets have been shipped and will be arriving to Bulldog fans via mail in the coming days.
