Menasha native Andy Kemp has signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings.
The signing of Kemp, a 6-foot-5, 313-pound offensive guard, was reported Monday by nflscout.com.
Kemp was not selected in the seven-round NFL draft over the weekend. He was projected to be a mid- to late-round selection.
Kemp, a former standout with the Menasha Bluejays, did not return a call seeking comment on the nflscout.com report.
Kemp watched the draft on Sunday with friends and family in Menasha.
The three-year starter for the Wisconsin Badgers was one of 10 free agent singings for the Vikings, according to online reports.
It was reported by nflscout.com over the weekend that the Vikings sent a coach to the Badgers’ Pro Day to conduct a private workout with Kemp and fellow offensive lineman Kraig Urbik, who was selected in the third round by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jim Hueber, the offensive line coach for the Vikings, was Kemp’s coach during his freshman season with the Badgers.
